Celebrate World Ocean Day with Marina at Keppel Bay
World Ocean Day may seem like any other day, but it is an important occasion to rally the world to protect our planet! In line with the World Ocean Day on 8th June, we have prepared a series of activities that you can enjoy at Marina at Keppel Bay!
A sustainable Marina
Ever wonder what goes on underneath our pontoon? Drum roll…. Corals! That’s right, Marina at Keppel Bay is home to a wide variety of coral reef. This is made possible with our “Open Concept” marina. The Keppel Bay Bridge was built as a suspension bridge and thus water flows through the entire marina during the change of tides and brings nutrients essential to stimulate marine life and coral growth.
Our seawalls are also purposefully constructed with concretes and rocks to create uneven surfaces and allow coral lavas to attach themselves. This allows sea organism to reproduce and thereby safeguarding marine life bio-diversity within our marina!
Be a Coral Detective
Now that you’ve understood some of our city reef efforts, stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram to be the first to join our Coral Walk on 18th and 25th June! The four sessions will be conducted by Sam Shu Qin, co-founder of Our Singapore Reefs, who is actively involved in restoring coral reefs in Singapore and Southeast Asia region. You’d get to discover our rich marine life and learn what possible threats coral reefs are facing to play your part in marine conservation! This is also a rare chance to tour and visit our pontoon area which is usually not opened to the public!
